I'm Positive I'm Using The Correct Key... Why Isn't It Working?

Your alarm clock didn't go off this morning so you're already running late for work. Frantic, you grab your wallet and keys, throw on your coat and run out the door. You put your key in the car door, unlock it, and climb in.. buckle up, key in ignition.... and nothing!? How can this be? It's never given you trouble before. There is only one key for the car and it worked fine on the door so how can it not start the car all of a sudden?
